Rock and Roll Welcomes Guns N 'Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers
Beastie Boys were also inducted on a night when Guns singer Axl Rose refused to attend. If it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, then drama is as much a prerequisite as loud guitars, receding hairlines and a night-ending all-star jam on a golden oldie.
Saturday night's 27th edition was no exception according to reports, with as much intrigue as a telenovela, as well as some genuinely peaceful Southern California bro-downage, irreverent induction speeches and fresh spots in the Hall for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, The Faces, Freddie King, Laura Nyro and Guns N' Roses.
The spotlight, of course, was on the famously fractured band of battling former brothers in GNR. Lead singer and sole remaining original member Axl Rose loudly decried the institution in a scathing letter earlier in the week, saying he would not attend and intimating that anyone who did was a fraud.
That was just fine for former guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, who made the most of the honor, while, ahem, never once mentioning Rose. "I don't know that it matters who's here tonight, because it's about the music that these bands played," said McKagan, who jammed a short time later on three songs with a pseudo-GNR made up of Slash, former Guns guitarist Gilby Clarke and drummers Steven Adler and Matt Sorum and Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy. It was the first time in nearly 20 years that Slash, McKagan and Adler had performed together and according to reports there were little signs of rust on the classics "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City."
In his induction speech at the Cleveland ceremony, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong dubbed Guns' 1987 album, Appetite for Destruction, "the best debut album in the history of rock and roll ... every song hits hard. It takes you ion a trip to the seedy world of Los Angeles. The thing that set them apart from everyone else was guts." And after ticking off the strengths of all the members of the group, he cheekily added, "Let's see, who am I missing?" The latter set off yet another chorus of four-letter catcalls from the 7,400 in attendance, which inspired Armstrong to add, "Shut up. He [Rose] was the greatest frontman to ever step in front of a microphone."
Rose wasn't the only star missing. Rod Stewart was not on hand to celebrate with the Faces/Small Faces because he was reportedly sick with the flu and Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch was absent because of ongoing recovery from cancer treatment.
B Boys member Mike D made up for it, giving a shout-out to the trio's hometown for inspiration. "Thank you, New York City, for basically raising us and giving us all the music we love and grew up on," said D, who was on hand along with bandmate Ad-Rock to celebrate becoming only the third hip-hop act in the Hall. During a later performance, Kid Rock, Travie McCoy and the Roots' Black Thought joined the duo for a medley of their classics, including "Sabotage."
Also inducted were Donovan, blues guitarist Freddie King, Laura Nyro, music exec Don Kirshner and a number of sidemen and backup musicians.
Accepting their award from comedian Chris Rock, Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis said it felt a bit weird to join such a hallowed hall when his band is still out on the road promoting new music. "We're going somewhere," he said. "How can we stop and take an award when really we're just halfway there?" The Peppers later performed with a triple-drummer line-up that included two former skins pounders, Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez.
The five-plus hour ceremony will be boiled down to a two-and-a-half hour special for a May 5 HBO broadcast.

Back again tonight with another live video blog (9:00PM EST/6:00PM PST). Next week I'm in California and at the Angel game Thursday night with my webmaster, so, there won't be another live video blog until July 12th. Get your questions in tonight. Especially the real good ones like, "Is Emily carrying Chris Harrison's baby?"
The Bachelorette Season 8 Episode 8 Obviously gotta start with the Star Magazine report that Emily and Chris Harrison are together. I want to give a special shout out to Star for printing that bogus, ridiculous, uninformed story since it blew up my Twitter feed and inbox. I'm kinda beginning to dread Wednesdays now, because that's the day the tabloids come out. And the second anyone reads anything regarding the "Bachelorette," no matter how ridiculous and without merit or sources it is, immediately I get asked about it. Go do a search of "@RealitySteve" on Twitter from yesterday, and you'll see all the people who asked or retweeted me about the story. After a while, I just gave up. People, please think before asking if it's true or not. I mean, really. Do you honestly think that Emily and Chris Harrison are together? Really? REALLY? The Bachelorette Season 8 Episode 8 It's amazing what tabloids will print just for a reaction. And for Vienna to be the one to put her name behind it saying she "guarantees Emily and Chris are together" is mind boggling. I hope they paid her well. All you need to do would be to think about the ramifications something like that would have on this franchise to know there's not an ounce of truth to it. No, Emily is not with Chris Harrison. Lets move on.

Oklahoma City 115-89 Rout of Sacramento
Daequan Cook left the locker room in the Oklahoma City Thunder, joking that he did not stay just to hear Russell Westbrook talks about his amazing dunk.Kevin Durant could not help teasing his All-Star partner, before you give it the respect it deserves.
In the mid-to be scheduled by the eruption of the leading Western Thunder Westbrook stole the show with his one hand, high growth Alley-Oop Slam during the Oklahoma City 115-89 victory in Sacramento on Friday night.
"This is a soak in Russia, which was nice. It was one of our best dunks in the year," said Kendrick Perkins, who had 11 points and 11 rebounds, only his second double-double of the season. "It was pretty disgusting."
In Oklahoma City led by 29 points and nine rebounds, and Westbrook scored 22 - no more impressive than his right-hand jam that was the culmination of a long 02.18 shortly before the break that put the Thunder in control.
Westbrook was forced to return to his right arm to encircle the forehead, but could still be served by electrification dunk that brought a full house on its feet.
"I do not want to give too much credit. It was a great past me," said Duran, resulting in "Oh my gosh!" Westbrook.
"No, it was one of the sports games I've ever seen," said Duran. "I think it was probably the dunk of the year."
In later admitted that it was "terrible" pass.
"It was kind of high, but Kevin, I think, it is assumed that I could get it," said Westbrook. "I was just trying to go for it if we do not get the figure of the business."
Westbrook, Thabo Sefolosha, and then followed with a 3-pointer driving downtime, and Serge Ibaka of two free throws at 56-37 with 40 seconds left before halftime.
The Kings have never been closer to 16 in the second half, conceding 23 in the third quarter and 32 in the fourth.
Thunder (43-16) do not even need to start - or top reserve James Harden, who was sitting with a patient right knee - in the fourth quarter to hang on the best record in the Western Conference.
Newbie Isaiah Thomas scored 21 points and DeMarcus Cousins had nine points and 12 rebounds for the Kings, who have renounced their right to their seventh loss in a long this season.
Earlier in the day, early agreement on the construction of a new arena and keep the Sacramento Kings collapsed, leaving the future of the club next season after a back indefinitely.
"We just focus on games. We can not control this game," coach Keith Smart. "It's really on our side with management and our ownership group and the city.
"For me and the team, I must concentrate on keeping them trained and ready to play. They should concentrate on preparing to play and play."
Tyreke Evans, the Kings' first choice - № 4 overall - in 2009 the project was a career worst two points in just 13 minutes. He went to the bench after collecting two fouls in 3 1/2 the first minute and then got a quick hook in the second half, although its position is no worse mistake.
"I think the biggest mistake earned him a little to one side and a little bit earlier, then after that we were 25 or 30 points. I'll play the other guys right now, because we're not going to catch up in the game as we played," Smart .
Evans scored 22 points to lead the Kings in a 106-101 victory over Oklahoma City in a team meeting for the first time this season in early February.
Thunder, who lost four of their last six games, had no problems this time as the first of three meetings between the teams during the 12 days.
Oklahoma City has accumulated 58-41 restored the advantage dominates Sacramento 48-26 in the paint and blocked nine shots, seven on Ibaka, who was 10, the last time the teams played.
"You have to meet their physical," Smart. "You have to match, and if you do not match, then you will be pushed to the ground."
Oklahoma City moved a game behind second place in San Antonio (41-16) in the West but remains bound in the loss column. The Spurs would get a tiebreaker if teams finish with the same file.
In the race for best record in the league, Thunder trail Chicago (45-14) by two games with seven to play.
Oklahoma City begins a five-game trip - for its long season - Saturday night in Minnesota.
NOTES: Sacramento F Jason Thompson was shaken up early in the second half when Westbrook zipped a pass off his face. He came out of the game afterward but returned midway through the fourth quarter. "I wasn't expecting the pass and it went straight into my eye," Thompson said. "For the most part, I didn't know what happened at first but it's not too serious. If it was, I wouldn't have come back into the game." ... Kings reserve Francisco Garcia missed his fourth straight game after sustaining a concussion April 7 against the Clippers. Smart said Garcia should be back next week. ... Durant, who came into the game fifth in the league with 3.6 turnovers per game, committed seven of Oklahoma City's 14 and surpassed Westbrook for the team lead.
Scenes From "The Cabin in The Woods"
Horror films are supposed to be scary, but not very smart. "The Cabin in the Woods" is both. It's about as clever as you can imagine a film of this type being that is also this wicked and this brutal.Horror stories that are built on big-picture thinking, and that take a stab at social consciousness, were always the purview of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" creator Joss Whedon.
The director of "The Avengers" co-wrote and produced this picture that will make you think while it attempts to scare the you-know-what out of you.
Whedon co-wrote the picture with Drew Goddard, who's the director of "The Cabin in the Woods" and a former producer of "Lost." The end product shows how both men have used the strengths of their TV successes to create this creepfest.
Fans of "Lost" remember how that show's story revolved around a group of people who were stuck somewhere and eventually forced to realize that larger forces were manipulating their existence.
A twist on that plot device is an element to this story that the filmmakers have worked to keep mostly secret through trailers for the film, so it's best to not say too much in fear of spoiling surprises.
Just know that the cliched scary-movie idea that begins the film - five friends gather for a weekend getaway at a secluded cabin - is not what it seems.
It starts out that way, and Goddard and Whedon smartly play on those "horror" conceits we know well. If someone tells you to avoid the woods, ignore them and laugh. Having unprotected sex is unsafe for multiple reasons. If someone in the group says, "Guys, I don't think we should do this" - do it anyway.
After we meet the group - they can easily be typecast as the athletic fellow ("Thor's" Chris Hemsworth) and his bimbo girlfriend, along with the smart guy, the virginal young woman and the goofy sidekick who enjoys a good smoke - the twists begin.
If you're wondering where middle-aged guys like Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford come in to the story, they can be found watching from a distance as the young people cavort.
If you can envision their roles from a reality TV standpoint, imagine "Big Brother" with a deadly sense of game-play. That's all I will say.
It's a high-concept idea that's easier to swallow if you're willing to allow a horror film to be something more creative than the average slasher movie. Those who can get past their desire for it to follow that tired old script will be rewarded with quality scares and nightmarish ghouls.
Whedon's influence is so pervasive that "Cabin in the Woods" feels like an episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" that Whedon couldn't get on broadcast TV because he wanted to go to some darker, more sadistic places.
Although it's creative and spooky, the picture is not as humorous as Whedon might have wanted. The most obvious liability in that and in the picture's narrative drive is that none of the five cabin visitors shows a real charisma to carry the film, making it feel sluggish without that force.
Newcomer Kristen Connolly comes closest as the battling virgin (who's not a virgin, a running joke), while Hemsworth plays a comparatively smaller character. Without question, the story is the real star.
There are many interesting themes to the film - like people being punished for their transgressions, or that sacrifices must be made to defeat evil - that make "Cabin in the Woods" different from a standard scarefest.
The real thrills come from being surprised so many times, in a genre for which nuance and revelations sometimes seem to have been viciously eliminated long ago.
Review: Cabin in The Woods Is “Fresh And Savvy” Horror Flick
I can’t start this review without telling you two things. They’re kind of warnings, but let’s call them disclaimers. First, if you’re even thinking you might have a passing interest in seeing The Cabin in the Woods, stop reading this review. In fact, read nothing about it before you actually view it in its entirety and return home from the theater or are at the bar where you go for your post-movie drinks or slice of pie. There will be spoilers. There are always spoilers, but particularly in this review, there will be spoilers and to appreciate this movie, you need to be free of the aforementioned spoilers.Second, I’ve worshipped at the altar of Whedon since my 16-year-old self caught his first episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on The WB. So, I’m going to confess right now it was somewhat predestined for me to enjoy this one, co-written by Joss Whedon and Buffy alum Drew Goddard. That being said, The Cabin in the Woods is a piece that will surely divide hardcore genre lovers and cinephiles, leaving many debating whether it’s brilliant…or bullshit. I throw my support behind the former.
It starts out with cryptic office coworkers Sitterson (Richard Jenkins) and Hadley (Bradley Whitford), worried about the success of their project. Their coworker (Amy Acker, the first of many Whedon alums to make an appearance) reminds them of the importance of their mission, which takes place mysteriously in some sort of underground lair. Also, there’s a team in Japan, and the two of them are the last operations left active before a big looming deadline.
Then, we get to the familiar story of five college friends—the slutty blonde (Anna Hutchinson), the jock boyfriend (Chris Hemsworth), the quiet virgin (Kristen Connolly), the sensitive scholar (Jesse Williams), and the sidekick stoner (Fran Kranz)— who embark on a trip to the isolated titular cabin, ready to blow off steam with a keg of beer and no school books in sight. But, there are some differences from the typical slasher formula—the stoner’s keenly observant, the slutty blonde is a pre-med brunette with a recent dye job, the brawny jock is a sociology major, and the virgin is, well, not. Still, as Sigourney Weaver later reminds us, they work with what they can get.
After an encounter with a creepy gas station attendant (Tim De Zarn) who reports back to the mysterious office team about the quintet’s progress, the group starts to settle into the house and we learn that nothing’s what it seems. People are taking bets on weird outcomes involving unicorns and mer-people. Plus, they’re kind of watching everything that’s happening on hidden cameras.
Late that night, the group discovers a creepy basement and a series of objects that each pique their interest—a necklace, a puzzle ball, a ballerina music box, and…an old diary. The diary details horrific traumas of the house’s first inhabitants and invites the reader to release their spirits with a Latin incantation, which they recite against the stoner’s warnings, thus raising the zombies, whom I spent about an hour debating if they were “real” in terms of the movie world or Animatronic-Americans. Turns out they’re real. Chaos ensues; people die, and eventually our two last survivors discover a secret.
After taking the Wonka-vator down into the bowels of the office structure, they discover all of the creatures that inhabit human nightmares in a sort of high tech zoo and realize they’d chosen their own fate with the journal, releasing the zombies into the cabin environment rather than a ghost, werewolf, or giant cobra creature. To save themselves from their mysterious captors, the survivors let all of the nightmare creatures out. More chaos ensues and we learn the office is actually the last line of defense between the old gods, who seek to rise and destroy creation, and us. They require a specific sacrifice a la the horror movie cliche formula in order to be sated below.
Joss Whedon created Buffy out of sympathy for the blonde girl that goes down a dark alley in every horror movie and never gets her chance to make it to the sequel. The Cabin in the Woods is the opposite of all of that and a weird blend of it at the same time. The movie was made three years ago for MGM, pre-bankruptcy and dissolution. It was only recently purchased by Lionsgate and given a theatrical distribution after several premiere dates had come and gone.
I know it seems like I’ve given a lot away in my summary, but I warned you. Still, there’s a lot going on I didn’t mention, so if you didn’t listen, a few things could still surprise you. The archetype breakdown of the quintet is nothing short of genius, and little moments of exposition provided by Acker’s chemical engineer, like the cognitive dampeners in the blonde hair dye, were pitch perfect to form a larger, Matrix-like series of questions we should be asking. How are these people chosen? How long has this gone on? How do you even get a job in that office? Why is free will so important to a sacrifice?
The performance of the ensemble is pretty even, but the clear standout is Dollhouse alum Fran Kranz, whose Marty not only cheats death, but becomes something of a hero as the movie progresses. I take slight issue with the ending, but at that point I was so swept up, I’m willing to overlook it. The tone is somehow perfectly balanced between witty laugh-soliciting jokes, creepy and genuinely scary slasher moments, and utter WTF absurdity that will leave your mouth slightly agape while you’re staring at the screen. The pacing of the unravel and reveals are timed so, at least upon first viewing, I always found myself with more questions than answers and constantly guessing.
The Cabin in the Woods earns its place as a companion for Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead 2 and Drag Me To Hell, maybe even a part of a future Grindhouse-esque double feature. Its satirical deconstruction of the slasher film isn’t as poignant as Scream, leaning more heavily on the absurdity of the situations the characters encounter. Still, whichever side you end up on, be sure you catch it before the twist(s) get out. Go. Now.

RIC seeks restraint against escalation of tension over NKorea
Amid global concern over the North Korean rocket launch, India, China and Russia today sought "maximum restraint" against any escalation of tension on the Korean Peninsula and said that Pyongyang's nuclear issue should be settled through "political and diplomatic means". Foreign Ministers of of the three countries held discussions on key regional and international issues, including situation in Iran, North Korean rocket launch and terrorism during a trilateral meet here. The RIC (Russia-India-China) meeting was attended by External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and his Russian and Chinese counterparts Sergey Lavrov and Yang Jiechi during which the leaders also condemned terrorism in all its forms. Law cannot deter people from consuming liquor, tobacco: Min
No law can deter people from consuming alcohol and tobacco products, a Rajasthan minister today said and asked public representatives to spread awareness about their harms. "The state government has made several efforts to limit the use of tobacco and liquor, but public participation is most important in curbing the use of such products and we all should make efforts in this direction," said Rajendra Pareek, state Industry and Excise Minister. The minister was expressing his views on a private-member resolution moved in Assembly by BJP MLA Chandrakanta Meghwal. Everybody, including members of the House, should make efforts to spread awareness about unhealthy and harmful results of using tobaco products and liquor, Pareek said. Another BJP MLA Suryakanta Vyas moved a resolution on rising cases of marriage separation. Expressing views on this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal said that the government's efforts have resulted in awareness in women and women empowerment is taking place in the state. Social Justice and empowerment minister Ashok Bairwa held TV serials responsible for the rising number of marriage separation and nuclear families.

Taking tons of photos of the sunrise, because it was BEAUTIFUL....
Starting up some old habits again..
St. Patty's day and the CATS!

My first "green" beer of the day!
All three of these lovelies are some of my best buds, and were in my wedding :)

Lexington has a parade every year that a TON of people walk downtown for! It was supposed to rain all day, but it ended up being warm and gorgeous out!
These two photos crack me up. There was a Moe's (mexican food) float that was in the parade, that was handing out bags of chips and queso. Jessica didn't realize they were giving out food until they were all the way down the street. She ran down the middle of the parade to make sure to get her chips and dip!!!
goofballs.
Some of the "parade" was quite interesting. There were tractors, random cars, llamas?!? and the humane society had some cute little doggies with green hair. After the parade downtown, we went in one of the local bars for a little bit, and then headed to our beloved TWO KEYS to watch the CATS play!
Two Keys is the place to be to watch the CATS play. It gets packed out. We went and scored a table at 5 p.m. for a game that started at 7:45. When it's a BIG game, you usually have to be there when they open in the MORNING for a table.
Two Keys is also known for it's "fishbowl" drinks. Our favorite is the "trashcan". Literally, it is a fishbowl, with a TON of stuff in it, including a toy shark with a shot, and a FULL redbull. It is death in a fishbowl.
We all had SUCH a good time. It was a perfect Kentucky weekend! I got to see all my friends, got to go to Two Keys, I got to watch the CATS win, and we ended our night with some Mad Mushroom pizza. It doesn't get more "Lexington" than that.
ALSO. SIDE NOTE: I'm not sure if any of you all keep up with the NCAA championship, but UK has advanced to the FINAL FOUR!! We beat Baylor yesterday, and University of Louisville beat Florida on Saturday. That only means one thing, we will be playing our BIGGEST RIVALRY (UL) this next Saturday. I can't even put into words how CRAZY it is going to be in Lexington, Louisville and New Orleans (where the game is) this next weekend. People lose their minds. Last year there was a full swat team outside of Two Keys and Tin Roof when we played UofL, and that was just a regular game, not a final four game. I am so excited I can't stand it!! If you don't have a favorite team, you can adopt mine and help the Big Blue Nation cheer on the CATS!
Moo... lately!
