Sometimes you need 30 days...

To contact us Click HERE
I took a month off...from Youtube and a lot of my other social media sites. I found that I needed some time to think about my future and plans. Not much has changed. My husband did come home from school (ALC) on the 4th of July and it was great. I had butterflies and was so happy he was home...but in the back of my mind, I knew what was to come.
I haven't seen much of Chris since he has been home. His job keeps him most of the time and on some days it feels like he isn't around. Yesterday he worked from 4am-10pm and I was a bit shocked...because he hasn't been in a "regular line" unit since we met. I was spoiled with no field days or training days, but most of all, spoiled with no deployments. So this is all very new to me and I am trying to adjust.
At ALC
Christopher has been in the Army for almost 10 years and he had just completed his 3rd deployment when we met, so the time we have been together has been a joy, not too much to worry about. Spoiled I know. Now that we are back in the United States, he has been super busy, something I admire and envy I suppose. Is it wrong for me to have envy? I have envy sometimes because I want a career of my own. That is what I have been planning this past month. Figuring out details and how much will be spent on daycare if I do apply for a job. I did apply for one, and am anxiously waiting.
One of the other things that has been weighing on my mind, is Chris' and my decision to re-enlist. I say "my" because he very much values my opinion on the matter. Some days I do admit, I want him out. It's those days when he comes home super excited about helping his soldiers out that I know he is a great leader. His unit needs him and I understand as much as I need him, I cannot be selfish.
After his long day of work yesterday, he came home and apologized that his uniform smelled of sweat and gun powder. He had spent all day at the range in the 85 degree weather. In my mind he couldn't have been any more attractive...it was quite hot actually. TMI TMI!! You ladies I am sure know what I am talking about. I was just happy to have him home, as I mentally prepare to see much less of him in the near future.

Treasure each moment.

So I do want to take this time to apologize for my absence. I am returning slowly. I have been doing a bit of reading and I will share that with you soon. Thank you so much for reading my blog. You mean a lot to me.

Our Home is Where the Army Sent Us

I might say PCSing (moving) back to the U.S. has been a bit challenging. As you may or may not know, Chris missed out a lot of this Summer. He has been working super long days and leaves again soon for training. GET used to it SOFIA!! lol. I am not complaining, I have moved on to feeling blessed and lucky. I appreciate everything my husband does and I feel so bad that it has taken me so long to realize that we are blessed. We are blessed that we have a roof over our head, food to eat, cars to drive. Ask me a month ago and I would have said I would have been excited that my husband was thinking about leaving the military. Ask me today and I will tell you that this is our life and we love it. We appreciate it. We live each day as if it were our last...and that has helped our marriage stay strong.
The military life is NOT easy. I have heard some people say that it is...and I laugh. Every day I have thoughts in my head that "this might just be the last time we do this as a family" and I know I should not be thinking this way. It is my normal way of thinking. My husband knows it and I know it...we don't pretend that it can't happen and that helps the both of us. So, we appreciate every moment. We try and focus on the important and laugh at the small things...I am happy we are at this point in our marriage.
This week has been super busy. My husband was issued his deployment gear. I thought I would have been an emotional wreck to be honest. I looked at it laid out in the den, shrugged and went about my day. I know it sounds like I am not concerned...maybe it just hasn't hit me yet. I already decided that I am going to be as STRONG as I can be. For our children, but most of all for my husband.
To stay or move home?? A part of me thought that moving home to my parents might be a great idea. I would have my mother and father there to support me and help me with my two boys. The other part of me said, "Sofia, your home is where the Army sent you."  YES indeed. Ft.Lewis is my new home and this is where I will stay. My parents are a plane ride away and I will sure make a visit or they may come out here to see how I am doing. :)
Christopher and I thought about vlogging our entire experience leading up to his deployment and then some...he would vlog while out there and I would vlog while here at home, what do you all think??
So if you have been through a deployment, do you have any advice?? This is not Chris' first rodeo but for me as his wife, it is. Let me know how all of you have been!!! Find me on Youtube! I would love to hear your stories!!

Challenging Myself

To contact us Click HERE
My husband has gone to NTC and we have zero communication right now. It is a first for us...he has been gone to training before but with full telephone and internet access. Well not this time. I am alright!

I don't mean to sound overly happy because I do miss him. What helps me get through the days without him here is having a few things to do during the day that will keep me occupied, besides my children of course!
This month I decided to post 30 pictures on Instagram (SofiaAlejandra9) doing the Military Spouse Photo a Day Challenge. I also opted to film and upload 30 videos for 30 days this month!!!! Why??
Making videos takes time but not only that...it gives me something to put my creativity towards. When Chris gets back, I am going to be focusing on spending quality time with him before he leaves...
So there it is...my challenge! I am on Day 4 and it feels good!! Although on Sunday I ran into so many filming difficulties and editing problems!! AHH!
To film in my household...it takes for my children to be occupied, playing nicely. I usually film with at least one of my boys right next to me or just a few feet away. Usually it is done in the living room where I can sit and watch a movie with them as I edit...multi-tasking!! It has been hard!!
If you have any suggestions or maybe have a topic you would like to me to do, please leave it in the comment section below!! I am sorry I have neglected my blog. I will be writing more because I realize that there are some things that need to get on paper (screen) as I find the strength before my husband gets on that plane...more to come!!

Side Note: At NTC it is often true that some soldiers do not take showers for DAYS!!!!

Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Face Masque

To contact us Click HERE

Sexy I know!!
I was strolling along the grocery store when I looked up and saw a long row of face masks. I thought that I would give one a try! I know it may sound bad but I hardly ever use products like these. I am simple when it comes to my face, I only use a facial scrub every other day and I have used the same one for years!!!! When it comes to products I love using the same brands that I have loved for years instead of buying new ones to try...I am a lot like my parents! But this time it was different, I thought I would try the Montagne Jeunesse Passion Peel Off Face Masque (that is one long name) for only 95 cents!! Ehh, why not??
So today after I filmed a TAG for my YT channel, I thought I would give it a whirl. I actually quite enjoyed it. Although it was quite messy trying to apply it, my face felt so smooth and fresh afterwards. I think my face deserved it! Since Chris has left I don't get a lot of sleep. I have insomnia when I am stressed and when I think too much. My brain just never stops so typically I am up at very late hours watching television in my room or surfing the net on my phone. BAD!!

I am starting to notice bags under my eyes...and to top it off I have not felt like eating as much as I should. Sure I may drop a few pounds but it is very unhealthy. Moral of this story is: Treat yourself well, your body and your mind. If you are a mother, your kids deserve a healthy mommy. If you are a wife, your husband deserves a healthy wife to come home to. Most of all you deserve to be healthy and happy. So this is my promise to myself and you that I will get more rest and I will treat myself better than I have been. No more late nights and no more skipping meals. STRESS is not my best friend.

As for the face peel off masque, I will be getting one every two weeks! You should give it a try if you haven't!!

Marriage Retreats In the Army

To contact us Click HERE
Chris signed us up for a marriage retreat in the beautiful city of Bellevue, WA. Fully paid two night stay at the Emerald Suites! It was a very nice hotel and I kinda wished we had gone swimming...that is beside the point.
Some soldiers do not like the idea of attending marriage retreats. Why?
The idea of going to a marriage retreat means you are having issues in your marriage! False!
Strong Bonds is a program to strengthen the bonds you already have in your relationship. Better ways to communicate effectively. I own tons of books on relationships but the idea of staying in a nice hotel with child care provided...and free meals...why would you pass that up??? For Chris and I, it wasn't the free stuff, it was the retreat itself. We looked forward to the time we were going to be able to spend together with no worries.

Relaxing!!
Christopher and I met later in life when he and I were both going through a divorce. We both agreed to attend marriage counseling before getting married and it is something I believe in completely. We were able to talk about our expectations and learn about the things we needed to improve on. It has made a world of difference and I believe that if you ever get the opportunity to go to a marriage retreat, do it!! You have nothing to lose really.

Last Weekend: A Recap

To contact us Click HERE
Well. I'm exhausted. Not even going to lie.
I just had way too much fun this last weekend!
Just kidding.
You can never have too much fun.
Thursday night, my friend Caitlin and I had a hometown date to our favorite Mexican restaurant, did some serious catching up and drank beers as big as our heads.
Friday, we piled in my car and headed to Lexington to have a "girls night" with two other friends! About ten minutes into the drive, we started to notice that the air conditioning wasn't blowing out cold air. This was fabulous, considering it was in the high 90's on Friday. We stopped to get my car looked at, and basically SWEAT TO DEATH. My friend even tweeted that she hoped that my air conditioning going out wasn't a taste of what the rest of the weekend had in store for us.
HA. Never was there a more true statement.

After sweating to death in Richmond for an hour getting my car looked at, we re-started the car, and the air conditioning magically worked! (for then). We eventually made it to Lexington, where I proceeded to drag poor Caitlin around Forever 21 while I bought much more than I should have. After some spray tans, and fighting some serious Friday traffic, we arrived at Britt's ready to get to drinking/girly-ing.
We made a quick trip to the store to get supplies, and started brewing up some tasty frozen drinks!
After being super girly, getting ready all together, and downing a few more frozen treats, we did the typical "girls-drinking-photo-shoots". (Cue: "pretty/ugly faces", goofy expressions, outfit poses, etc.)
I have friends who are not only super HOT, but are also just as weird as I am! :)I wore a cutie patootie dress that I scooped up from Forever 21 that day! UK blue. Of course. We eventually made it out, and trekked downtown, heels and all. In true "girl night" form, we all had a great time, and ended up somewhere sitting down, and probably drinking more than we needed too! But hey, it's girls night.
Long story short, some alter egos emerged, (STACEY!) credit cards were left at bars (not mine! thank the LAWD), we somehow made it all back safely, and pizza was devoured. It was a truly hilarious night.

Since I'm only recapping Friday right now, I'm not going to go into full detail of how ridiculous this weekend was. It was literally one thing after another. So you'll have to come back to read the rest. :)

How was your all's weekend?!?

Last Weekend: A Recap (2)

Saturday we somehow peeled ourselves out of bed (hello hangover) and went and had some fabulous lunch at Ramsey's! If you're ever in Lexington, be sure you go. Literally everything is delicious. After lunch we headed over to see my niece! My friends had been dying to meet her, after seeing multiple pictures. Not even two seconds after we opened the door, my niece reached out for Sierra (top left). She is such a happy, loving baby, but she usually doesn't let new people hold her! Especially me. Now, let me be completely honest. I am not a "baby person". Babies do not like me. I break out in hives anytime someone brings up me having my own one day. (Obviously, I know this will change at some point, but really. It's just weird for me. haha!!)Anyway, the one time I tried to sit next to my niece on the couch for a picture and sort of hold her, she flipped out! She really was not happy. (bless her adorable heart)However, this time we had a break through!!! She reached for me over and over again and let me hold her forever!!!! I sent pictures to Snookums and he was mind blown. (he knows of my baby issues)So, my niece and I had a few moments on Saturday! After getting in some adorable snuggles from my niece, and visiting with family, we had to hurry back to get ready for a wedding! Of course, on the way back, my air conditioning COMPLETELY went out. (104 degrees outside y'all)So. That was fun. Anyway...My friends, Sierra and Caitlin and I actually went to high school with both the bride and the groom! All of us girls were inseparable back then! So it was really cool to go see!The wedding was held out at the Kentucky Horse Park, back in an adorable little cove area! It was tucked back away from everything, with a really cool stone wall as the backdrop! We made the really stupid mistake of going out there almost 45 minutes early. It was no less than 104 at the time. We made sure to take a few pictures before sweating off our entire faces! The girls and I were laughing about how hungover, and dehydrated we all were. I sat beside a really funny couple who kept cracking jokes the whole time we were waiting on the wedding to start! At one point, he said he would catch me if I passed out (I was at that point people. Bacardi from the night before was not treating me well) and also joking about how today was NOT the day to forget your deodorant. No amount of heat, sweat, or hangover could take away from how GORGEOUS a bride our friend made!! Her dress was amazing! She pulled up in a white carriage, and was escorted by her Dad! (We all loved him in high school. His nick name was "Big En" He is absolutely hilarious.)She looked SO HAPPY!!! And her dog Muffin, was the prettiest bridesmaid I ever saw!! After the wedding, we all made our way back to the Rolex Stadium, and Judges tower for the reception! It was so good to get to hang out with our high school buddies. We made sure to help open up the bar, of course. By time the reception was winding down, all of us girls were literally exhausted. My dress had been soaked through no less than 3 times, and I felt like I had run a marathon. Thanks Kentucky weather! My mom made sure to send me cute pictures of my little boy throughout the day, which she always does when they have him for the weekend! This pic was just too cute not to share! After we spent a much needed night laying around on the couch and going to bed after the wedding Saturday, we woke up and went to brunch at Doodles in Lexington. This is another place that you MUST go to if you are ever there. Everything is amazing. I got a fresh made bloody mary, cheese grits, the vegetarian omelet, with mozzarella, red onions, and spinach, and my favorite, one of their biscuits. They are heavenly. I've never had a better one. They also have fresh made jam that literally tastes like you've smeared strawberries on your food. I am salivating right now. I want one. Oh. And there is some really funny artwork, like the "Doodles Ninja Monster"But yeah. Back to my car. Poor baby completely pooped out on me. So we couldn't drive it home. Sunday was spent laying around, waiting on my parents to come pick us up and check it out. Of course, when they finally got there, the sky opened up and POURED. Sowe all had to get out in the rain to look at it. We decided that I shouldn't drive it. So poor Caitlin had to pile in thecar with me, my parents, all their luggage, my dog, and my parent's dog. (clown car status)Then, we got stuck in a storm. Then we got stuck in wreck traffic. And it took about 2 hours to make an hour drive. It was eventful.
My friend Caitlin's Tweets summed it up best:Pre-car ride home:"I don't think anything else could go wrong! Will we ever make it home?"and then, my favorite, her tweet while being stuck in traffic:"broken down car, Stacey, sitting in 104 degree weather way too long, passing out, butt sweat, awkwardness, rain, and traffic. OH MY".That my friends, was my weekend. In a nutshell.

It's my birthday today.
And what a birthday it's been already.
Horrible quality photo, but I feel like it shows our horrible quality of health today.
I can only conclude that getting ridiculously sick, fever and all, the day before my birthday, means that my body doesn't want to be a year older. In fact, I've decided that it means I don't have to count this year.

Yesterday, I spent the day taking medicines, and showers to cut my fever. I was either in bed or glued to the couch. Pathetic, basically.

Snookums had to work late, pick up some sick supplies, come home to a messy house, eat fast food for dinner, and listen to me whine and moan all night. (Poor Snookums!)

This morning, I woke up to Skeeter throwing up ALL OVER ME.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!
I am a mess today. Really.
Regardless of the fever, the aches and pains, the cancelled birthday plans, and the puppy puke, it's still the best birthday ever, because my Snookums is home, safe and sound. I could NOT ask for a better birthday present than that!

Hopefully, my day gets a little better. But if it doesn't, I know I can look forward to a night spent watching movies and ordering take out (saltines and 7up most likely for me) with Snookums and my pukey puppy.

Happy Birthday to me.
