I hope everyone had a fabulous 4th of July! I spent this holiday home with my parents this year, and literally spent ALL DAY cooking and baking! It was awesome. I made some seriously delicious drinks for the day too! These are getting made more often. So simple and so pretty!(Bacardi frozen daquari, Gatorade Lemon Lime, Bacardi Rum, and muddle some strawberries & blueberries and you're done!)
We made all kinds of goodies. We loaded up some skewers for Shish kabobs with mushrooms, zucchini, squash, tomatoes, onions, and green peppers!
Daddy Moo did his specialty, the BBQ baby back ribs. And I made some seriously fattening, but ridiculously delicious baked mac and cheese. I swear to God. I was channeling Paula Deen with the amount of cheese, butter, milk, oh yeah and CHEESE that I added together to make that sauce.
Skeeter made sure to stand around and keep track of the progress of the ribs. So spoiled.
Overall we had baked mac and cheese, veggie skewers, mashed potatoes (also Paula Deen-ed with tons of butter and cream) ribs, and green beans fresh out of the Moo garden. Now, as I'm writing this and looking at pictures, I'm thinking I might need to run downstairs and get some leftovers.
For dessert, I made a key lime pie, and a strawberry jello cake. I could eat jello cake every single day. So easy, but SO GOOD.
I decided this year to just hang out with my parents for the 4th! I'm glad I did! I had a couple different offers to go do some things, but I think I just needed to relax!(read: drink fruity drinks all day and eat a lot of food, then sleep on the couch)I even had some time to do my nails up all patriotic and stuff.
Sadly, I didn't get a call from my good lookin' hubby/soldier, but it's o.k. I know he will call tomorrow :) Hope you all had a nice relaxing 4th like I did!
