Rock and Roll Welcomes Guns N 'Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Beastie Boys were also inducted on a night when Guns singer Axl Rose refused to attend.

If it's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, then drama is as much a prerequisite as loud guitars, receding hairlines and a night-ending all-star jam on a golden oldie.

Saturday night's 27th edition was no exception according to reports, with as much intrigue as a telenovela, as well as some genuinely peaceful Southern California bro-downage, irreverent induction speeches and fresh spots in the Hall for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beastie Boys, The Faces, Freddie King, Laura Nyro and Guns N' Roses.

The spotlight, of course, was on the famously fractured band of battling former brothers in GNR. Lead singer and sole remaining original member Axl Rose loudly decried the institution in a scathing letter
earlier in the week, saying he would not attend and intimating that anyone who did was a fraud.

That was just fine for former guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, who made the most of the honor, while, ahem, never once mentioning Rose. "I don't know that it matters who's here tonight, because it's about the music that these bands played," said McKagan, who jammed a short time later on three songs with a pseudo-GNR made up of Slash, former Guns guitarist Gilby Clarke and drummers Steven Adler and Matt Sorum and Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy. It was the first time in nearly 20 years that Slash, McKagan and Adler had performed together and according to reports there were little signs of rust on the classics "Sweet Child O' Mine" and "Paradise City."

In his induction speech at the Cleveland ceremony, Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong dubbed Guns' 1987 album, Appetite for Destruction, "the best debut album in the history of rock and roll ... every song hits hard. It takes you ion a trip to the seedy world of Los Angeles. The thing that set them apart from everyone else was guts." And after ticking off the strengths of all the members of the group, he cheekily added, "Let's see, who am I missing?" The latter set off yet another chorus of four-letter catcalls from the 7,400 in attendance, which inspired Armstrong to add, "Shut up. He [Rose] was the greatest frontman to ever step in front of a microphone."

Rose wasn't the only star missing. Rod Stewart was not on hand to celebrate with the Faces/Small Faces because he was reportedly sick with the flu and Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch was absent because of ongoing recovery from cancer treatment.

B Boys member Mike D made up for it, giving a shout-out to the trio's hometown for inspiration. "Thank you, New York City, for basically raising us and giving us all the music we love and grew up on," said D, who was on hand along with bandmate Ad-Rock to celebrate becoming only the third hip-hop act in the Hall. During a later performance, Kid Rock, Travie McCoy and the Roots' Black Thought joined the duo for a medley of their classics, including "Sabotage."

Also inducted were Donovan, blues guitarist Freddie King, Laura Nyro, music exec Don Kirshner and a number of sidemen and backup musicians.

Accepting their award from comedian Chris Rock, Red Hot Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis said it felt a bit weird to join such a hallowed hall when his band is still out on the road promoting new music. "We're going somewhere," he said. "How can we stop and take an award when really we're just halfway there?" The Peppers later performed with a triple-drummer line-up that included two former skins pounders, Jack Irons and Cliff Martinez.

The five-plus hour ceremony will be boiled down to a two-and-a-half hour special for a May 5 HBO broadcast.

RIP Momma Moo's "first boyfriend"

Y'all. I was out of it yesterday. I FINALLY caught up on some sleep. Things haven't been super regular around here with waiting on phone calls and texts all hours of the night. (but it is totally worth it!)So when I finally said hello to the world yesterday, I got a text from my Momma Moo that was sad, but cracked me up at the same time. She said,"My first boyfriend died today. Davy Jones. Died of a heart attack at 66"(I've posted the original source for these photos.. but in true moo form I have, of course, doctored them slightly)sourceFirst. Let me say, I am SO SAD the adorable Davy Jones has died :(I remember the first time I ever saw him was on the episode of The Brady Bunch where Marsha had a huge crush on him! I remember (at like 12, thinking, HE IS SO CUTE!)I was so distraught to find out that he was actually already an older man, and that he was not still this cute little 20 something on the show. SighAfter texting my mom and letting her know that her random text had inspired my blog post for the day, she went on to tell me that... When she was younger, she and her sisters had their own "Davy Jones Fan Club".Apparently, one time she was "putting on a concert" in her backyard, and feverishly playing her "tambourine" (a yellow tin top for potato chips) when she got REALLY into it and jumped off the dog house she was performing on and chipped her tooth with her "tambourine"!!The things us girls will do.

Anyway, I was laughing about the fact that my mom called him her "first boyfriend" hahaha.
(I also think it's kind of comical that my mom and I have very similar tastes in men! Because I think that Davy Jones was just TOO CUTE)

So, Mr. Davy Jones of The Monkees has passed. He was so adorable!! Even in his "older age".
God bless you, you adorable thing.
sourceP.S.
I used to think that Nick Carter and AJ McLean of The Backstreet Boys were my first boyfriends too.
sourcesource
Now looking back, I realize they both look like skeezers, and that Nick kind of looks like a girl.
What WAS I THINKING?
Who was YOUR first "boyfriend" (crush) ???

Teach Me 'Bout Kentucky

Well folks, as mentioned in last post, I am back in KENTUCKY! My first couple days here have been spent doing good ol' kentucky things. Things like...Admiring how there were American Flags EVERYWHERE and watching the sun come up!Going to the "tire shop" with my Daddy Moo... Spending some quality time with Daddy Moo, which included going to the local Hardee's for breakfast... (It is THE place to be around here. Everyone over 50 is there.)Letting my little Skeeter boy do some running around without a leash, which usually leads to him getting a little messy...Taking tons of photos of the sunrise, because it was BEAUTIFUL.... Taking a couple pictures of the "wildlife" (stuffed animals all over the tire shop)..One person who saw this on instagram thought it was IN MY HOUSE. Nope. Sorry. We have stuffed/mounted deer and fish, and maybe a squirrel or two, but no woodchuck things. Or whatever that is.My Dad and I putting Skeeter through the horror of a impromptu photo shoot with a bear... (no Skeeter's were harmed in these photos) Starting up some old habits again..Falling in love with the cutest little birdhouse and taking a million pics... (it's adorable, right?)Wearing only comfortable clothes, and not CARING what I looked like...Spending the evening sitting out on our front porch swing...Watching the sunset with Skeeter from my parent's wrap around porch..And I spending lots and lots of time resting up and getting some great sleep!! FINALLY!!!I have been taking it easy. And it has been awesome. JUST what I needed. I may just stay awhile....

St. Patty's day and the CATS!

To contact us Click HERE
This year, I got to come back to Kentucky and spend St. Patrick's day with some of my friends! There was just as much UK blue around as there was GREEN! :)My first "green" beer of the day! All three of these lovelies are some of my best buds, and were in my wedding :)Lexington has a parade every year that a TON of people walk downtown for! It was supposed to rain all day, but it ended up being warm and gorgeous out! These two photos crack me up. There was a Moe's (mexican food) float that was in the parade, that was handing out bags of chips and queso. Jessica didn't realize they were giving out food until they were all the way down the street. She ran down the middle of the parade to make sure to get her chips and dip!!! goofballs. Some of the "parade" was quite interesting. There were tractors, random cars, llamas?!? and the humane society had some cute little doggies with green hair. After the parade downtown, we went in one of the local bars for a little bit, and then headed to our beloved TWO KEYS to watch the CATS play! Two Keys is the place to be to watch the CATS play. It gets packed out. We went and scored a table at 5 p.m. for a game that started at 7:45. When it's a BIG game, you usually have to be there when they open in the MORNING for a table. Two Keys is also known for it's "fishbowl" drinks. Our favorite is the "trashcan". Literally, it is a fishbowl, with a TON of stuff in it, including a toy shark with a shot, and a FULL redbull. It is death in a fishbowl. We all had SUCH a good time. It was a perfect Kentucky weekend! I got to see all my friends, got to go to Two Keys, I got to watch the CATS win, and we ended our night with some Mad Mushroom pizza. It doesn't get more "Lexington" than that.ALSO. SIDE NOTE: I'm not sure if any of you all keep up with the NCAA championship, but UK has advanced to the FINAL FOUR!! We beat Baylor yesterday, and University of Louisville beat Florida on Saturday. That only means one thing, we will be playing our BIGGEST RIVALRY (UL) this next Saturday. I can't even put into words how CRAZY it is going to be in Lexington, Louisville and New Orleans (where the game is) this next weekend. People lose their minds. Last year there was a full swat team outside of Two Keys and Tin Roof when we played UofL, and that was just a regular game, not a final four game. I am so excited I can't stand it!! If you don't have a favorite team, you can adopt mine and help the Big Blue Nation cheer on the CATS!

The Plane Ride Home

To contact us Click HERE
Hello Everyone!! I am so sorry I have been completely missing from my blog, things have been quite hectic since we arrived in WA!! Yeah we are here now. I want to talk a little about the few plane rides home and how they went....
I am always a worry worm when it comes to riding planes, but I will deny it if anyone asks...I will simply tell them, "oh yeah I love to fly!" I get nervous!! Anxiety, headaches, and I cannot and will not sleep the entire night before. Let's rewind and talk about Brussels, Belgium. That was our original flight out straight to Chicago....and we had about 11 pieces of luggage with us, two car seats, a stroller and our dog Dexter. OOPS, two little boys as well!! The night before our flight out of Brussels, I told Chris (the hubby) that the flight may get cancelled since the weather in Chicago was supposed to be snowy and icy. Oh yeah did I fail to mention that the hotel shuttle to Brussels from lodging was going to cost $120.00! That was an hour drive so understandable...but whatever happened to someone in your unit volunteering to take you to the airport? That doesn't exist anymore...or maybe it does just not in Belgium. Luckily our wonderful friend Andrew volunteered to take us to the airport (so it does exist!!) and I was able to ride in the back of a police car!! Awesome!! I wasn't under arrest, I promise. We made it to the airport on time, and that is a BIG DEAL, especially for my family because we are ALWAYS LATE, even if a party or dinner is at a neighbor's house. So this time we were extra early and so relieved that we had the time to relax and breathe!
That didn't last long...
We walked up to our line with both carts of luggage and our two little ones and that was a challenge...and the guy said, "where are you flying to?" And we said "Chicago" in our happy voices..."well" he said..."your flight is cancelled."   WHAT???!! In my mind I was repeating every curse word imaginable. We were on a roll and then that happens. So it wasn't the snow...it was a mechanical problem. All the anxiety I had worked on getting rid of, came back in a hurry.
We were re-routed to Frankfurt, Germany...and the plane was going to leave in 45 min!! It was GO, GO, GO time. The lady with Luthfansa Airlines was so annoyed at our luggage because she had never seen so much!! She didn't understand military orders either and that made it so much more complicated. Luckily we only paid for the dog to travel...and cheaper than United Airlines!!
We made it through security, running!! We were the last ones to board and hardly anyone was on the plane. Our flight was only 45 min with a 3 hour layover..that meant we were going to be late a couple hours into Chicago...but how would I get ahold of my mom??
That was a challenge and even with a credit card they wouldn't transfer a call. I was hoping for the best...thinking that my mom would ask for information at the desk in case we were late and she sure did!! She said she wasn't going anywhere until I arrived at the airport. I love my mom.
The two kids....well....it was a challenge!! They used to be the most amazing kids when traveling...but this time around was different. Everything that could have gone wrong...did. Our seats were separated too so neither one of us could sleep, we each had one child. We tried to entertain them with a portable dvd player, books and toys. It didn't work...some mommies have told me to give them Benadryl but I can't. We arrived in Chicago and it was SNOWING!! The first big snow of the season. It was bad! But I felt good to be home!!! We stayed for two weeks but I will talk more about that later...The last plane ride from Chicago to Washington State was really not that bad...4 hours and a little turbulence. I was NERVOUS and sad because I had so much fun at my parent's house. Nervous because we were going to this new duty station completely BLIND. No phone calls or emails from anyone in the unit. Chris didn't know who he belonged to and I was nervous inside. Oh and we had to meet our new property managers two hours after landing...MORE in the next blog!!

<------- Who can resist these faces?? Don't let them fool you!! At the Chicago O'Hare Airport...

QueenBeeuty: "Pretty Little Liar"

To contact us Click HERE
I have been watching Kalel Cullen or QueenBeeuty for almost a couple years on and off. I say on and off because for a moment she deleted all her videos and started posting "lookbooks." If you are not familiar with "lookbooks," it is basically a video where a YT Guru dresses up in particular brand name clothing and shows it off like a video photo album. Some are pretty neat, but it became too repetitive for me. Kalel Cullen or shall I say Kristin Smith her birth name and legal name, has been criticized over and over for being a liar and today I finally understand why. I supported her channel completely even when she was having an identity crisis and went from bleach blonde to black hair over night...she was trying to be her true self. Her inconsistency makes me question her true motives as of lately. Unfortunately in the past few years she has been caught up in some lies. I really did try and give her a chance as she really seemed like she was speaking from her heart...so I thought. Today I came across her latest video in my subscription box. You can watch it below. She did a haul video on Bath and Body Works and Express Clothing. I will (paraphrase) her in this blog and you can tell me what you think.Kalel: "I had $200.00 worth of Express Cash  Coupons but the guy must have thought I had double, so he put $400.00...I had spent so much that..looking back I guess he should have realized that's a big difference, $200.00 (with a giggle)..I debated going back and telling them, but I was already home and it is an hour drive (rolls eyes)..I don't think there was anything they could do at this point anyway..so I guess it was just my lucky day!!"
Really??? There is a phone number on the receipt, it would have been really easy to call back and let them know they had made an error and attempt to make it right. I was so disappointed in her reaction to the situation. NO INTEGRITY and relying on a "Retail UNIVERSAL policy.." You crack me up Kalel. Just chalk it up as $200.00 of "lost" coupons. Do you know how much time is spent searching for $200.00 worth of missing merchandise and money?? There is paperwork and camera work involved. There will be time spent and wasted...all because a customer decides to keep their mouth closed...you didn't save the guy his job, you're not a hero. Ok yes, they would have let you keep the merchandise and you wouldn't have had to pay it back...but not saying anything isn't okay either. Yes your morals are being questioned because the image you set forth in your video doesn't say too much.

The cashier made a mistake, accidentally typing in $400.00 instead of $200.00. I am wondering how Kalel didn't even notice it when the total was read aloud. You can't notice a $200.00 difference?? Did you really spend that much at Express?? I forget, she makes a ton on YT. The sales just make it so confusing!! <---Her words.
Back to why I am passionate about this subject. I have worked retail, both customer service and behind the scenes as a Loss Prevention Officer and as an LP Manager.

***side note: (I hold a degree in Criminal Justice for those who think I am talking out of my ass.)

$200.00 is a lot of money. That is my groceries for 3 weeks. That is a lot of gas money. That could be someone's paycheck. I was highly irritated by her demeanor, like no big deal I scored, screw the cashier. AND then proceeds to show off her "LOOT." She didn't feel guilty in the least bit. I have always given back money if a cashier gives me too much, even if it is 2 cents. Made sure that my merchandise has been rung up at the register. I make it a point to be as honest as possible especially at retail stores because SHORTAGES affect CHRISTMAS & HOLIDAY bonuses...It affects the employees. It affects the customers because PRICES will increase...people who steal or "accidentally take" from stores, hardly look at the big picture.
The mistake should have been corrected by Kalel Cullen even as a consumer. She noticed an error and keeping her mouth shut was not the right decision. This poor guy may get fired and yes employees do face consequences on shortages especially at the cash register. The question is, why does Kalel believe that not saying anything and keeping the $200.00 worth of merchandise is okay? Because to her it's "just $200.00" and the "retail UNIVERSAL policy" allows her to..."oops the transaction is over, I win." I would love to see this policy.
So the discussion went like this:

Subscriber:
Seriously, Kalel.. if you had any morals or conscience, you would at least call them and tell them what happened. Just be like, "I honestly didn't realize it until I got home and since you're an hour away from me I just felt that I should call you & explain what happened, and to get your input on this." $200 is QUITE a difference... I would feel entirely too guilty to NOT let them know :(. But I guess that's what happens when one person has a conscience & another doesn't.

Kalel:
His drawer wasn't $200 short, it was missing $200 in coupons. And regardless if I had called or not, it doesn't change that fact that he had a major lapse in judgement. His boss would write him up for that no matter what.

What does all this say about Kalel?? She isn't honest enough to go back and return $200.00 worth of stuff or pay the extra $200.00 in coupons that was shorted. She is keeping the merchandise and feeling good about it. In her eyes she did nothing wrong because the cashier had a lapse in judgement. She made the video to show everyone all the stuff she bought and never once said she was going to go back and fix the error. I mean really who cares right...it's super cool to get free stuff!!  Young girls view her and now it's okay, great role model there.  All because Kalel Cullen made it justifiable in her blog by stating a store policy "Retail Universal Policy 879-098" I added the numbers for effect. So it's okay now Kalel, you're off the hook!!!

WRONG PEOPLE.
If for example, you are at a gas station and you get $10.00 worth of gas and you hand the cashier a $10.00 bill and he hands you a $10.00 bill back...thinking you gave him a $20.00 bill, do you take it and run?? NOOO, you give it back and tell him you gave him a $10 bill. It isn't hard to be honest people!! Integrity.

Now if someone is going to make an error of $200.00, it is going to be noticeable at the register!! C'mon unless she spent $1000.00 swiped her card and ran off...ok maybe I would get how she would have missed the error. Even then, go pay the $200.00. (If I am spending over $100.00 on merchandise at any store, the first thing I do is check the receipt.)
What disgusts me even further is that most of her subscribers believe it is okay that she kept the merchandise and didn't say anything. What is going on with the youth today?? I say youth because that is the most common age group on her channel. So maybe that is why they think it's ok.  I was the not so common, like I said before, I thought she was sweet, honest, and trying to be herself, she proved me wrong.

Kalel Kristin Cullen Smith, be honest to your subscribers. It is about time. Your viewers consist of young girls who look up to you because of your fashion sense and creativity. Posting videos about having a lucky day because you scored $200.00 worth of merchandise for free because a cashier made an error and kept your mouth shut isn't something to brag about. You only made yourself look like you have 0 integrity and that you are just really greedy. Give back the "LOOT." You are sponsored by companies, you can't deny that. I am sure if they caught wind of your actions, they wouldn't be too happy. Make things right, do it for your viewers. Please do not post a video stating you returned the stuff and really didn't. That "retail UNIVERSAL policy" you speak of, doesn't give you the right to say screw it!

Integrity is something you learn as you grow up. People make mistakes, the cashier made a mistake today. His boss might write him up, who knows, we don't know the guy's work history as a cashier. I am sure someone will not be too happy about it. A lot of people said "let it go, it's no big deal, I am sure you would have kept it if it were you." No actually I wouldn't have kept it. Second of all, I am aware of what I am spending when I get to a register, to completely not notice a $200.00 difference is completely ridiculous. Another person stated: "I am in retail and if it were me as the customer, I would have jumped for joy." Say what?? I would have been keeping a close eye on you as your employer.
Where is the integrity and honesty these days?? Is it less common now? So because I made a comment on the video, someone told me to stop being the "good guy." I will say it again, is being the "Good Guy" a BAD thing??? This planet needs more good guys and girls!!

Unsubscribed this time for good.
Watch her video and make your own opinions. I am not here to twist you in any direction. Just stating what I believe in and because this is my blog..I can!!

I got an M16!!

To contact us Click HERE
I could have went with the Bomber but instead my husband went with the M16!! Yeah I bet you're wondering what the heck I am talking about!! Well I am talking sandwiches. On post if you order a sandwich from the Commissary Deli, they are named based on military weapons, terms or vocabulary, I think Subway should do this too! In fact I don't go to Subway anymore because the sandwiches at the Deli are so much larger and 1/2 the price!! Overseas Chris and I used to order 6 inch sandwiches and they were so filling!! I miss them so much. They didn't have any cool names though. Yesterday my husband had CQ (such a military wife thing to say)...stay tuned for that video!!
CQ? Well that is basically where a soldier goes to guard at a barracks...guard. lol. They sit at a desk and checks out who comes in and out at the barracks. It is a duty some soldiers have to do. Comes with the job!
So Chris was at CQ and he had a quick break to go and get some sandwiches, so he comes back to the car and says, I bought you an M16!! SAY WHAT?? Ok so I knew it couldn't have been a real weapon, although they do sell guns on post!!

There was also another half to this sandwich!!
It was a sandwich: Wheat bread, 12 inches (you can feed two adults for only $7.69), Provolone Cheese, Pepperoni, Salami and Ham. With whatever other toppings I love....banana peppers, pickles, and the list goes on. When I first met Chris he was stationed in Ft.Carson, Colorado and he lived off post so I never had a reason to go on post. This was the first time I had heard that the sandwiches were named like this!! I think it is neat...some people may think it's lame. I felt the need to share!! I learn something new every once and a while and still some things intrigue me.

Say What??
With so much terminology in the military I am not surprised that some people forget what acronyms are..I get tongue twisted a lot when trying to repeat acronyms...I mean there is CYS, ACS, DEERS, BAH, OCONUS, CQ, and many more! ACS itself has 20 or more different meanings!! What the heck! There are websites created just to find out the meaning of acronyms I will list some down below:
http://www.fas.org/news/reference/lexicon/aca.htm

http://www.dtic.mil/doctrine/dod_dictionary/

http://www.militaryacronyms.net/

Just to be a smartie pants I think I am going to start talking to my husband in acronyms!! He actually gets very annoyed at how many there are. A question for my military spouses, have you ever picked up one of your husband's training manuals and actually read it?? I am guilty. I have and seriously those are JAM packed with information!! I think I actually know the correct procedure to clear out a room. You know in case of an emergency!! Wait, am I even supposed to be looking at that...don't tell anyone!!
