Snookums gets promoted :)

Monday, November 5th, my Snookums got promoted!! I was so excited to be able to go, knowing that most wives don't get to see their husbands promoted to Lieutenant, because it usually falls during deployments. We got lucky, and the timing worked out just right!I had never been to one, so I kept bugging him about things, like "Who is going to be there? What am I going to have to do? Where will it be? Is it inside or outside? What should I wear?" I'm exhausting, I know, but a girl needs to know how to dress appropriately! Regardless, I got the day off work, and made it over to base to meet him and head over to the place they were holding the promotions. His also happened to fall on the day where the whole Battalion would be there. (I didn't know until I got there.) It also, happened to be outside. (which I also didn't know until I got there. Thank God my jacket matched my outfit and I could keep it on!)That's the Army for you. I had no clue what was going on until I was actually there. haha It was a pretty cool thing to see! Snookums had told me before that I would be taking off his old patch, and replacing it with the new one, which I was excited to get to do!
I loved hearing all his praises from Lt Col. He kept saying how "Snookums" (obviously he didn't refer to him as Snookums, that would have been uncomfortable, and would have worried me. LOL)was an officer who truly CARED for his men. He cared about what was going on with them, and cared about how he could make their lives easier. He also said that he had been thrown right into the thick of deployment, with little training compared to others (he deployed almost right after we arrived at Bragg) and that he handled it with great skill and fortitude. :)
All of that made me really happy to hear. I know my husband has been busting his butt since the day we arrived here, and it's nice for it to be recognized!
After the Lt Col made his speech, I removed Snookum's old patch, and replaced it with his new one, we pinned his new rank pin on his beret, and Lt Col re-administered my husband's Oath of Office. After he was announced at his new rank, he was offered to make a speech to the group. The very first thing Snookums said, was that he wanted to thank me, for all my support and love, because without me, he wouldn't have been able to do it. AWWWW *heart melts* He went on to say all the normal stuff, something along the lines of "hey, we're awesome, let's do this, too easy, and all the way". haha! Afterwards, everyone stood around, gave congratulations, and we had a few pics taken by some friends! It was all around a pretty cool thing to see, and I'm so glad I could be a part of it! It felt awesome to be recognized like that it front of everyone, for all the looooooong days and nights of worry, stress, moves, support, waiting, and love that you put in as a military wife. I'm super proud of my husband. He's so loyal, trustworthy, and a really hard worker. I'm confident that we are juuuust getting started, and have a lot in store for our future!! CONGRATS SNOOKUMS!!! :)
Also, in case you were wondering, about officer ranks, and how they work.. here is a little diagram for you. (it made me laugh!)
